Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we're asked most often.
What performance improvements can be expected for a 2013 BMW 3 Series after an engine remapping?
The gains depend on the engine and its original configuration. On average, a 2013 BMW 3 Series can gain between 40 and 50 horsepower, with a torque increase of 20 to 30%.
For example, a BMW 320d with 184hp can reach around 220hp after remapping, with a torque gain of +80Nm.
To know the exact gains for your model, you can use the gains calculator on the home page.
Gains calculator on the home pageHow long does the intervention take?
The duration depends on the type of preparation and your vehicle model. Here is an estimate based on the level of modification:
Stage 1: between 1 and 4 hours, including electronic diagnostics, remapping, and road testing.
Stage 2: requires leaving the vehicle at the workshop for at least one full day to perform the necessary mechanical and electronic adjustments.
Stage 3: available only on request. It includes more advanced modifications (bigger turbo, injectors, high‑power setup…).
Please contact our support team to discuss your project and the associated timeframe.
Do you travel to customers (Geneva, Fribourg, Valais...)?
Yes, we travel throughout Switzerland: Geneva, Fribourg, Valais, Neuchâtel, as well as German-speaking Switzerland and Ticino.
Travel is free when several customers are grouped on site on the same day.
We work at your home or workplace, with the same level of quality as in our garage.
Is it possible to return to the original configuration?
Yes, at any time. Restoring the original configuration is included in our services at no additional cost.
This is one of the advantages of choosing a professional: you benefit from guaranteed work and complete flexibility.
Can this cause problems for the engine or gearbox?
A properly executed remapping does not damage the engine or gearbox. It respects the tolerances defined by the manufacturer and intelligently exploits the vehicle’s potential.
It is essential that the vehicle is in good general condition before the intervention. We never modify engine safety limits or mechanical protections.
However, a poorly done remapping can indeed cause damage to the ECU or engine. This is why, at Mperf Engineering, we guarantee proper operation: every vehicle is tested, validated, and checked before being returned to the customer.
Do you have a dyno? How do you validate performance?
We validate performance through log reading and analysis — the method that tells you how the engine behaves, and not just how much it produces at a given moment. Boost pressure, injection, ignition timing: these data measure the gains obtained precisely, provided they are interpreted correctly.
All our files are created with log readings and confirmed on a dyno when we have access to one. For an ECU we have never worked on before, we may keep the vehicle a bit longer to perform more in‑depth logs and adjust the file with precision. You leave with a before / after report of the readings: pressure, injection, ignition.
And if you want the figure, nothing stops you from running your vehicle on a dyno after the work. The results are generally very close: within ±3% of the announced figures.
Example:
If we announce 300 hp and 500 Nm, the real measurements will be between 290 and 310 hp, and between 490 and 510 Nm.
Do I need an appointment or can I come without one?
All our interventions are done by appointment only. This allows us to guarantee a dedicated time slot, optimal service, and no waiting time.

Book an appointment on WhatsAppDoes remapping void the manufacturer’s warranty?
Remapping can theoretically affect the manufacturer’s warranty, depending on the manufacturer’s conditions.
This is why we offer optimized and reversible files, with a return to stock included.
For vehicles still under warranty, we recommend contacting us so we can adapt the solution to your situation.
Can remapping reduce fuel consumption?
Yes, in many cases, a well‑calibrated remapping can optimize engine efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, especially with smooth driving.
Results vary depending on the engine, driving style, and vehicle condition.

Do you also work on utility vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, boats, or agricultural machinery?
Yes, we offer remapping and optimization solutions for a wide range of vehicles: utility vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, boats, agricultural machinery, and much more.
Each type of vehicle requires a specific approach. Contact us so we can review the possibilities based on your model and your goals.
And on a naturally aspirated engine, is it worth it?
Yes, and we have already done several. On a naturally aspirated engine, the work is about driving feel: throttle response, flexibility, behaviour at high revs. Enthusiasts who know their car feel the difference immediately.
Two options go particularly well with it: the E85 ethanol conversion, and pop and bang.
Let us be clear, though: a naturally aspirated engine will never give the figures of a turbo — there is no boost pressure to play with. If what you are after above all is horsepower, we will tell you so before taking your money.
Do you do the ethanol (E85) conversion?
Yes, and it is a speciality of ours. We have completed in-depth training on ethanol conversion, in particular on cold starting — the point that causes the most difficulty with this type of conversion.
In practice, the engine accepts E85: a significantly cheaper fuel, with a higher octane rating. We regularly receive vehicles converted elsewhere that struggle to start cold or run roughly, and we correct them.
Not every engine is compatible: send us your exact model and we will check before proposing anything.
