Engine remapping services offered by mperf
FAQ
You can find answers in this section. Here are the most frequently asked questions from our customers before booking an appointment.
1. What performance improvements can be expected for a 2013 BMW 3 Series after an engine remapping?
The gains depend on the engine and its original configuration. On average, a 2013 BMW 3 Series can gain between 40 and 50 horsepower, with a torque increase of 20 to 30%.
For example, a BMW 320d with 184hp can reach around 220hp after remapping, with a torque gain of +80Nm.
To know the exact gains for your model, you can use the form at the beginning of the page.
2. How long does the intervention take?
The duration depends on the type of preparation and your vehicle model. Here is an estimate based on the level of modification:
Stage 1: between 1 and 4 hours, including electronic diagnostics, remapping, and road testing.
Stage 2: requires leaving the vehicle at the workshop for at least one full day to perform the necessary mechanical and electronic adjustments.
Stage 3: available only on request. It includes more advanced modifications (bigger turbo, injectors, high‑power setup…).
Please contact our support team to discuss your project and the associated timeframe.
3. Do you travel to other areas (Geneva, Fribourg, Valais...)?
Yes, we offer travel throughout French‑speaking Switzerland, including Geneva, Fribourg, Valais, and surrounding areas.
Travel is free when several customers are grouped on the same day.
We can intervene directly at your home or workplace, with the same level of quality as in our workshop.
4. Is it possible to return to the original configuration?
Yes, at any time. Restoring the original configuration is included in our services at no additional cost.
This is one of the advantages of choosing a professional: you benefit from guaranteed work and complete flexibility.
5. Can this cause problems for the engine or gearbox?
A properly executed remapping does not damage the engine or gearbox. It respects the tolerances defined by the manufacturer and intelligently exploits the vehicle’s potential.
It is essential that the vehicle is in good general condition before the intervention. We never modify engine safety limits or mechanical protections.
However, a poorly done remapping can indeed cause damage to the ECU or engine. This is why, at MPerf, we guarantee proper operation: every vehicle is tested, validated, and checked before being returned to the customer.
6. Do you have a dyno? How do you validate performance?
The dyno will be installed soon. In the meantime, we validate performance using a professional method: log reading and analysis. These data allow us to precisely measure the gains obtained, provided they are interpreted correctly — which we fully master.
All our files are created with log readings and confirmed on a dyno when available. For ECUs we have never worked on before, we may keep the vehicle a bit longer to perform more in‑depth logs and adjust the file with precision.
Once the tests and validations are completed, you can take your vehicle back and, if you wish, run it on a dyno to confirm the announced performance. The results are generally very close: within ±3% of the announced figures.
Example:
If we announce 300 hp and 500 Nm, the real measurements will be between 290 and 310 hp, and between 490 and 510 Nm.
7. Do I need an appointment or can I come without one?
8. Does remapping void the manufacturer’s warranty?
Remapping can theoretically affect the manufacturer’s warranty, depending on the manufacturer’s conditions.
This is why we offer optimized and reversible files, with a return to stock included.
For vehicles still under warranty, we recommend contacting us so we can adapt the solution to your situation.
9. Can remapping reduce fuel consumption?
Yes, in many cases, a well‑calibrated remapping can optimize engine efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, especially with smooth driving.
Results vary depending on the engine, driving style, and vehicle condition.

10. Do you also work on utility vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, boats, or agricultural machinery?
Yes, we offer remapping and optimization solutions for a wide range of vehicles: utility vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, boats, agricultural machinery, and much more.
Each type of vehicle requires a specific approach. Contact us so we can review the possibilities based on your model and your goals.
